Larkstar had made sure that RiverClan would be the first cats to the gathering. She leaped up onto the highest branch of the Great Oak and waited for the other Clans to arrive to the gathering. She didn't have to wait too long, because after only a few minutes Foxstar and Echosong arrived with their ThunderClan cats chosen to go to the gathering.
Foxstar arrived on the island, seeing RiverClan was already here. She hopped up onto the tree, to the branch closest to the RiverClan leader. "Greetings, Larkstar." she mewed and dipped her head to the she-cat. Larkstar nodded and replied "Hello, Foxstar." but said nothing more. She must be saving herself for the gathering. Foxstar thought to herself.

Wishingstar and WindClan were the next to appear at the Gathering. The fluffy white tom slowly padded up to the Great Oak. His deputy was by his side the whole way, scared he might end up hurting himself. Oceanmasked watched him climb up onto the Great Oak, and then padded away to talk to the other Deputies. Wishingstar looked at the other two leaders and purred, "Hello there. Nice weather out, isn't it?"
Cinderstar and ShadowClan were the last to come to the Gathering. The dark tabby jumped onto the Great Oak with no effort at all. She nodded her head to the other leaders.

Larkstar gave a brisk nod to Wishingstar, then turned away to look out at the clearing. She felt a growl in her throat when she saw ShadowClan appear. When Cinderstar nodded to the other leaders, she turned away. She probably told one of her warriors to kill Riverheart. she thought to herself. She almost wanted to lash out at the ShadowClan cat.
Foxstar nodded at Wishingstar, "Yes. It's been great, lately, hasn't it?" she mewed, and briefly looked at Larkstar, wondering why she seemed so cold. What's gotten under her pelt? Foxstar thought, but shrugged it off. Chances are, she'd find out during the gathering. So instead of wondering anymore, she turned her attention back to Wishingstar.

Wishingstar smiled at Foxstar and added, "Yes, it feels good on my old bones. I've been able to move more freely than ever." To prove it, ther white tom licked his paw and then burshed it over his ears.
Cinderstar's whiskers twitched in amusement as she listen to Wishingstar ramble. She purred smoothly, "Shall we start?"

"Well I'm glad to hear you're doing well." Foxstar purred to Wishingstar, then turned to Cinderstar and nodded. "Ready when you are." then sideways glanced at Wishingstar to see if he was ready to start. She didn't bother looking at Larkstar-- the she-cat looked so deep in thought she probably didn't even hear Cinderstar. She'd get the point when the gathering started...

Wishingstar nodded his head. He called out in his cracking voice, "If StarClan allows it, may we start this Gathering!" He waited as the cats quieted down before continuing. "WindClan is doing fine. Prey is running, and I would like to welcome three new kits to the Clan! Morningcloud has had Kestrelkit, Breezekit, and Harekit!" He smiled as he mentioned his kits names, and it only widened as cats of all Clans cheered.
Cinderstar went next. "We also have new kits. Darkember has had Foxkit, Dogkit, Badgerkit, Mudkit, and Mothkit!" Cheers went through the crowd once again. Cinderstar nodded at Foxstar to show that she could continue.

Foxstar nodded her head at Cinderstar, then looked out at the Clans. "Prey is running well in ThunderClan, and we're also proud to have new kits! Dustcloud is the proud mother of Applekit, Blazekit and Swiftkit." she mewed, then looked up at Larkstar.
Larkstar looked down from the Great Oak at her Clan, then let her gaze travel across the clearing. She turned to Cinderstar and in a vicious snarl, she meowed "Murderers." after a few moments she continued on, louder, "Murderers. Riverheart has been murdered." her voice rang out over the clearing, but her gaze was still focused on Cinderstar. "His neck was snapped, and he was drenched in ShadowClan scent. Mur.der.ers." she meowed, breaking the last word into syllables. "And sloppy ones at that. You left evidence all over his body!" she challenged.

Cinderstar was taken aback. She had no idea what Larkstar was talking about. She looked out at her Clan. They all had shocked looks on their faces, and a few were hissing and growling at the RiverClan cats. The shecat looked back at Larkstar. "We did nothing of the sort!" she responded, "You cannot go around blaming ShadowClan for your problems! If you don't think before you talk, you are no leader at all!"
Wishingstar looked back and forth between Larkstar and Cinderstar, then gave a desperate look at Foxstar. He wasn't sure if he should get between them or just watch.

Foxstar met Wishingstar's glance. She shook her head and flicked her tail. They would wait for the two leaders to talk before getting involved. If they started a fight with claws unsheathed, or tried to anyways, then they could leap in. But right now, it wasn't really their business.
"I thought about it plenty while sitting vigil for my dead warrior who was reeking that foul scent of yours." Larkstar spat at the she-cat. Clearly, she'd thought about her defense. She knew that Larkstar wold bring it up at the gathering, and was going to do her best to act innocent! "He was found near the ShadowClan border, smelling like ShadowClan scent, and it looks like your sneaky little back attacks are what killed him." she yowled, her voice filling with anger.

"Found near the ShadowClan border?" Cinderstar mewed, the louder she added, "Well of course he smelled like ShadowClan cats! He was found near the border! Spend enough time at the border and even i would smell like one of you fish lovers! You don't have enough evidence to pin this on us! My warriors protect the borders, but they would never cross one and attack unless they were threatened!"

"He smelled as if he was one of your own. ShadowClan cat through and through. His body was still warm. He was not there for very long. Not long enough to smell like that, unless he was leaped on, which he was, by one of ShadowClan's own cats." Larkstar meowed, "And I wouldn't put it past one of your warriors to decided to shed blood out of sheer boredom."

Cinderstar stood on her hind legs as if she was about to leap on the RiverClan cat. She unsheathed her claws and hissed, "Oh, so you're saying you're better than us, right? Think again, kit, think again!"
Wishingstar tried to utter some sort of warning at the leaders, but before he could say anything, Cinderstar unsheathed her claws and leapt at Larkstar. She knocked the other leader off of the tree and into the ground with a loud thump.
"SHADOWCLAN HAS DONE NOTHING UNPROVOKED!" Cinderstar hissed as she battered the RiverClan leader.
This caused the other cats of ShadowClan to leap at the RiverClan cats.

"You think your Clan is just the greatest thing! You've spoiled your Clanmates to think the same thing! One lone warrior wandering the border, maybe just out on a walk... your patrol probably figured that they have the authority to send him back to camp!" Larkstar screeched and bit at Cinderstar's throat, then rolled over and got on top of the ShadowClan leader and scraped at her belly fur.
Foxstar yowled from the branch she was on, as she watched a cloud cover the moon, "The truce! StarClan is angry with us! Cinderstar, Larkstar, stop it!" she looked at Wishingstar with a brief nod as if to say "Interfere!" and leaped down to separate the two she-cats. She ripped Larkstar off of Cinderstar by the collar, but was careful not to break skin.

Wishingstar scrambled down from the Great Oak. He rushed over to stand in between the ThunderClan and RiverClan leaders and the ShadowClan leader. When Cinderstar jumped up she ran into Wishingstar instead. Cinderstar hissed in rage and slashed at the white tome, blood welling up on his flank. He didn't move though. "Cinderstar! Stop it! Do you want StarClan to be angry?" This brought the tabby shecat out of her daze. "Wishingstar, you old coot, what are you doing?" She sheathed her claws and paces back and forth between the large white tom. She then turned and walked back toward her clan, which had stopped fighting. "Let's go. This Gathering is over." The ShadowClan cats disappeared over the Fallen Tree.

As the ShadowClan cats disintegrated into the mass of trees, Foxheart felt Larkstar stop struggling in her grip. She let the she-cat's pelt out of her mouth and placed her tail on her shoulder. "Yes. This gathering is over. I wish you the best of luck, Larkstar." she meowed, before signaling her Clan that it was time to go. She lead her cats off the island and back to the camp.
Larkstar snarled after the ShadowClan leader, then watched as Foxstar left the clearing too. She stared out at the remaining cats-- RiverClan and WindClan. To her own cats she announced, "Riverheart's death is on ShadowClan's paws. And I will not let them get away unpunished. For now, let's go home." she meowed, then lead her Clan out of the clearing, the moon still partly covered by clouds.
