Oh My Godot!

Mothkit followed his friend out into the clearing.
"Hey!" he called to Sparrowpaw, "Nightstripe gave me an idea!"
He bounced over to her and whispered, "What if we asked Stormshadow to talk to Cinderstar for us? Maybe we could have, like a vote on if I get to be an apprentice or not!"

[J I N G O]

"Yeah!" Sparrowpaw exploded and then saw Stormshadow.
"Stormshadow, Stormshadow! I have a question." she mewed excitedly.

Stormshadow saw that Sparrowpaw was still hanging around Mothkit and was curious as to what she could possibly have a question about. "Yes, Sparrowpaw?" he meowed grandly.

"Well.. do you think you can have Cinderstar cast a vote as to whether or not Mothkit can be apprenticed?" Sparrowpaw exploded. Surely he'd say yes!

Stormshadow's mind filled with the thoughts of the outcome of that event. Many cats were swayed by Cinderstar's word that Mothkit was useless without both eyes. "Sparrowpaw..." he started, "Mothkit is going to have to prove himself before he'll have the chance of winning that vote." he said, then turned his gaze on the small tom. "Don't get me wrong though. I believe you can become a warrior just like any other cat. Not everyone in ShadowClan agrees with that though... Maybe if Mothkit can become popular among the Clan, I will discuss it with Cinderstar. But there's no use in having a vote that is clearly not going to end in your favor."

Mothkit's tail and head both drooped as he heard his deputies words. He thought the plan would work for sure.

"Well how can I do that," he asked suddenly, snapping his head up, "If I don't even have a mentor to teach me anything!"

Anger flowed through Mothkit's one eye. His tail was starting to lash back and forth because of how upset he was at this whole ordeal. It wasn't his fault he had only one eye!

Stormshadow looked at the black tom curiously. He did see potential in Mothkit, but it would be difficult to persuade other cats to think like that. "Sparrowpaw." he meowed grandly, dipping his head to the she-cat. "Teach this cat what you learn-- modify what he can't do into something he can do. In one moon, check back with me and I will tell you my decision." he meowed before walking away.

Mothkit smiled happily at Sparrowpaw.
"We can do this!" he purred, "You just go to training every day with Goldenrod, then come back and teach me everything you know. Then we'll start it all again the next day, and next moon we can show Stormshadow just how well we did!"

"Yes!" Sparrowpaw purred happily, resting her tail on Mothkit's shoulder. She was excited to help the black tom become an apprentice. "And Stormshadow can convince the other cats that you can go out on patrols, just like he did with Bonestep, and then you can show the Clan just how much you can do!"

"Yeah!" Mothkit exclaimed happily. He finally felt like he could be something to this Clan, and instead of waiting for some cat to give him the chance, he would just push his way in and force them to see him for what he truly was: A brave warrior of ShadowClan!
