Sparrowpaw was lazing around the camp, the smells of the crisp leaf-fall season blowing in on the cool breeze were reaching her scent glands and numbing her nose a bit. Her eyes were closed, but she wasn't asleep. She was taking in the sun light that was warm even when the wind was so cold. It's not like she had anything to do right now, with Goldenrod and Mothpaw nowhere to be found.

Mothpaw came back into the camp with a mouthful of prey. He had gotten much bigger since the last time we saw him, which was forever ago. He set them down on the fresh kill pile, then picked one up and dropped it in front of Sparrowpaw.
He sat down next to her and mewed, "Hey, I never told you how much it meant to me that you worked so hard to make me an apprentice."
Realizing what he said was run-on, he mewed, "Er, well, you know what I mean."

Sparrowpaw blinked her eyes open and looked at the young tom, Mothpaw. She started purring with delight immediately. She nodded her thanks for the fresh-kill before speaking, "Well it was so unfair! I knew you'd be able to do just as much as any other apprentice." she purred. She was proud that she and Mothpaw had SERVED CINDERSTAR HER JUST DESSERTS.

"Thank you. You were the only one that ever believed in me, Sparrowpaw. You mean everything to me!" He purred warmly. He meant it too. He didn't know what he would do if she randomly disappeared or got eaten by a badger.

Sparrowpaw pulled herself up into a sitting position and pressed her cheek against Mothpaw's, affectionately. "I'd do it again in a heart beat for you!" she purred before leaning down to take a bite of the fresh-kill he had brought for her.

"Thank you. If there's ever anything i can do to repay you, please tell me." Mothpaw said honestly. He LOVED Sparrowpaw, but he was too shy and scared to say anything. He didn't want to lose his friendship with her if something went wrong. He didn't want to end up being a crazy murderer like Ashfur!

"You don't need to repay me, silly!" Sparrowpaw said with a cute little MRROW of laughter. "Helping you was fun! It was my pleasure, really." she assured Mothpaw. The whole thing had gained her a great friend! She ONLY WISHED THEY COULD BE MORE THAN THAT..

Mothpaw touched noses with his friend and looked in her eyes lovingly. She meant the world to him, and he wanted to have interbred kits with her.
"I love you, Sparrowpaw." he miaoued.

Sparrowpaw was shocked by Mothpaw's sudden EXPLOSION OF FEELINGS. But before she could give away her emotions on her face, she found words tumbling out of her own mouth. "I love you too, Mothpaw."

Mothpaw smiled at her and wrapped his tail around hers. Then suddenly an voice rang through the clearing, "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey come to me beneath the highstumpthing!"
Since they were already facing that direction, Mothpaw didn't have to move.
"I wonder what Cinderstar wants?" he asked.

Still purring, Sparrowpaw turned her head in the direction of the highstumpthing, also curious of what the meeting could be about. She figured she might as well finish her prey in this time while the cats were gathering beneath the HIGH STUMP THING.

"I think it's time for a few apprentices to become warriors," Cinderstar mewed, "Dogpaw, Foxpaw, Badgerpaw, and Mudpaw. Do your mentors think it is time for you to become warriors?"

Tigerfire and Addertail both nodded their heads.

"Oh, my brothers and sister are just getting their warrior ceremony." Mothpaw said, wishing he could be up there with them. Suddenly he realized something. "Wait, aren't you older than them? Why aren't you up there too?"

Sparrowpaw shrugged her shoulders. "It's not just age. How training is going also affects how quick a warrior is made too..." she didn't mind though. She would rather be in the apprentices den with Mothpaw for as long as possible. "Maybe she'll make me and you warriors next!"

SMOKECLOUD AND STORMSHADOW NODDED THEIR HEADS.

THATS BETTER.

"Mudpaw, Badgerpaw, Foxpaw, and Dogpaw. Do you promise to uphold the warrior code even at the cost of your own life?"

"I do." the echoed.

"Then from this moment on Dogpaw will be known as Dogtooth. I commend his vigor in battle. Badgerpaw will be known as Badgerstripe, and I commend his patience in hunting. Foxpaw will be known as Foxtail. I commend his eagerness in learning. Mudpaw will be known as Mudflower. I commend her willingness to protect her Clan."

Cinderstar jumped down, and she rested her nose on each cats head in turn while the licked her shoulder. When the crowd quieted down and the four cats went out for their vigil, Cinderstar leaped back onto the HIGHSTUMPTHING.

"Now, I have one more duty to perform tonight. Sparrowpaw and Mothpaw, are you ready to be warriors?"

"I think they are!" Goldenrod called, his eyes shining with pride.

Twilightwing nodded her approval, "I think so too." not only was her daughter going to become a warrior, but her apprentice too!

Sparrowpaw turned her head to Mothpaw, her eyes shining. "What did I say!" she mewed with pride, and pressed her muzzle against Mothpaw once more while waiting for Cinderstar to continue.
