Pontmercy & Co. was one of the largest Defense Attorney offices in all of the country. It was very well known, and you know, it wasn't just everyday that J.M.Pontmercy, the man who started the office when he was just twenty two, took an an intern. But today was the day that all of that changed. J.M. himself stood in the main lobby, staring out the window for his new intern. He had much to do today and couldn't afford to waste his time waiting. His younger brother was sitting in the lobby's main desk's chair, his feet propped up onto the desk. He would have gotten yelled at if his brother was turned around but he was taking advantage of the moment.

Victorique arrived at Pontmercy & Co. in a nervous wreck. But she was desperately trying to cover that up. She didn't want Mr. Pontmercy to think she was insane day one and right off the bat. She tried as hard as she could to look calm and collected. She entered the building and looked around the main lobby. There were two men there who looked a lot alike. But one of them was older, and she figured that one was definitely J.M. Pontmercy. She walked up to him and held out her hand, which was only shaking slightly, and introduced herself. "I'm Victorique Valjean."

Jagger was pretty relieved when he saw the girl walk up to his building. He was tired of waiting. He could tell she was nervous. He shook her head and said, "Nice to meet you. I'm J.M. Pontmercy, you're new boss for a while."
There was a smart laugh from the back of the room, and Jagger's brother called "Hey Jag, you finally got yourself a girlfriend! She's not bad looking either. I'm proud."
Jagger gave his brother a look that could have killed him if looks could kill looks kill.

Victorique could feel her face turn red at the younger man's comment. She tried to push it past her then looked over at the man and asked Mr. Pontmercy, "Who is that? Is he a lawyer too?" he definitely could have been since this was one of the biggest defense attorney company things in the country. But he didn't look like he'd be a lawyer of any sort. He looked like he did nothing but mooch off of other people.

"No, that's my idiotic little brother." Jagger replied, "Please, just ignore him. He had no place to go but here." "Hey!" the boy complained. He got up and walked over to where the other two were standing, "That's not nice! I'm Thorn, and I'm totally cooler than my older brother here."

Victorique laughed a little bit and felt somewhat less nervous. Why? Who cares. She just felt like she had been walking into the most uptight office ever, just because this was her first shot at being a defense lawyer. The atmosphere was more calm around here than she had expected. She held out her hand to Mr. Pontmercy's younger brother and repeated herself, "Victorique Valjean." she smiled.

"Thorn, we need to start work. Get out of here." J.M. said before Thorn had the chance to say anything else.
Thorn pouted and said, "Hey, no keeping the pretty ladies to yourself, bro!" The look that Jagger gave him next though changed Thorn's attitude. He rolled his eyes and grabbed his jacket off of the lobby desk. He walked out the door and the next sound that was heard was the roar of a motorcycle.
Jagger shook his head, but then focused his attention on his new intern. "Sorry about that. Anyway, do you have any questions on anything? Any comments you want to make before we get to work?"

Victorique watched as the younger man left, then turned her attention back to Mr. Pontmercy "No I'm ready to get to work whenever." she said, then asked, "What are we doing first?" looking around the main lobby awkwardly. What would they be doing? Would they be INVESTIGATING? Or doing PAPERWORK? Or EXPLODING OFF INTO COURT? Or exploding OFF INTO HIS OFFICE TO DO ALL OF THE ABOVE? This was the first time she'd done anything in her career, sadly, so she had no idea.

"Hmm, well I have a few things that need to get done. I have some papers that need to be dropped off at the courthouse. I suppose I could show you around there while I'm at it." He said, "The Office is normally busier than this, but with this time of year so many people have taken vacations." He shook his head, obviously lost in thought, then meandered his way over to his office. He came back a few minutes later with a large envelope, then stared at Victorique like he couldn't figure out what she was doing there. Rhen suddenly his eyes flashed with understanding, and he said, "Come on, lets go." He headed out the door.
When he got to the courthouse, he found the person he wa looking for to give the papers too. They stood there and talked for the longest fucking time, then suddenly he seemed to remember that he had an intern. "Hey, come this way. I'll show you the courtroom." he said, and Jagger exploded off into the giant doors. "This is where the defense sits." he said, pointing at a bench stand thing.

Victorique followed Jagger into the courtroom, nodding at pretty much everything he said. She'd been in a courtroom before, and she knew how it was set up, she had just never been the attorney in the situation. But she didn't want to act impolite so she just nodded and said, "I see." and tried to look thoroughly engrossed in what he had to say.

Jagger awkwardly rubbed the back of his head, feeling slightly stupid. "Yeah, well I've never had an intern before. I really don't know what I should be doing. You probably already know everything I've told you..." he apologized. Then suddenly his eyes flashed and he exclaimed, "Well, why don't you tell me what you want to learn? Besides that I'll just continue on with my day, and you can stop me if you have any questions! Sound good?"

"Alright," Victorique looked back at Jagger said and nodded her head. "Sounds good to me." then waited for him to get on with whatever it was that he had to be doing. She was kind of hoping they'd have some kind of exciting case soon. Even though she was new at this, she had a good feeling about it. She felt like she could take on any case no matter how difficult it was or how tough the prosecutor was.

"Right then. Follow me." Jagger said. He headed out of the courthouse and back to his office. By now, there were at least a few people hanging around the main lobby. The secretary at the main desk called, "Oh! Mr. Pontmercy! I have a new case that i thought you might want to handle. I wrote down the information. It's sitting on your desk as we speak!" "Thanks." Jagger said and nodded his head toward the secretary. He headed back to his office, sat down in his chair, and picked up this new file. after flipping through it for a bit, he looked up at Victorique and asked, "Have you ever seen a court trial before?"

Victorique followed Jagger into his office, and looked around. At the question he had asked, she nodded solemnly, "I was a witness once.." she said, not sure if that really meant anything. She had been a witness to her family's murder, and had to testify about the man she'd seen fleeing the scene. She had only been 9 years old at the time, but she remembers it like it was yesterday. "It was about 14 years ago though." she added. "I don't know if that counts for anything. I suppose it was some kind of experience. Kind of."

"Hmm...Did you see any court proceedings in school?" Jagger questioned. He needed to know how well informed his new intern was. He wasn't sure if she could handle a case herself, or if he should bring her to one of his first. "Being a witness is slightly different." he explained.
