Victorique shook her head in a very MilesEdgeworth fashion. "She hardly looks pregnant. She's still eligible for work. You must've just recently found out she was pregnant with a baby girl, correct?" Victorique said. "She can still try to find work somewhere."

"Did you know that you have to be working somewhere for a certain amount of time before you get maternity leave?" Blythe asked rhetorically, "So then she'll be stuck at work when she's nine months pregnant." Under his breath he muttered, "Besides, she thinks I'm a terrible father."
Silence exploded through the room. Thorn wasn't sure what to ask, or if he should even be participating in this. To him it was like watching tv.

"Well she must have been trying for something." Victorique said. She didn't want to frame them for setting up the crime to get Jared Hall's money, because Blythe would probably kick them out. But what else could she do? She had to think of something. "Was there any other source where you could get money? Something she was waiting on...?"

'Look, this is the last time I'm answering this question, so you'd better change your question or get out of my house!" Blythe growled. His son looked up from the floor and stared at his father. He didn't understand what was happening or why these people were making his father so angry. Blythe repeated, "I lost my job. No one would hire me. Kira didn't find a job because she's A) pregnant, and B) in the same situation I'm in: No experience or schooling. She asked her brother if we could borrow some money. He refused because he knew we could never pay it back. Now we are sitting here enjoying this house until we get kicked out and have to live in a shelter!"

"Well, Mr. Masako, I just find it odd." Victorique said, remaining calm. She crossed her legs and put her hands on her knees. "The entire situation, really. Why would your nephew, Mr. Jared Hall, have any reason to steal anything at all from his suffering aunt and uncle? He has all the money he needs. And the young boy did not come off to me as greedy or a thief." she noted, and then after a short pause continued, "How about a change of topic and question. Do you think that your nephew was framed?"

"No, I do not think he was framed." Blythe answered. His eyes flickered to the ceiling before he let them rest on the defense attorneys once again. "We just wanted to talk to him about borrowing some money, since his father was now gone maybe Jared would have a change of heart for his family, y'know? He refused to lend us money again, so here we are, back to where we started."
"Wait, what was stolen again?" Thorn asked.
"Kira's necklace." Blythe answered, "It was the most expensive thing we had. It was Jared's mother's, and when she died years ago, it was given to Kira. Kira loved that necklace! Jared stole it from us because it was his mothers!"
"Mommy's necklace?" the boy on the ground whispered, looking at his father.
"Yes Jace, Mommy's necklace." Blythe sighed. He watched the boy leave his apples on the floor and wander off.
"Jace!" he called, "Don't leave your food on the floor! The cat will eat it!" But the boy was already tottering up the stairs. Blythe just frowned, sighed, and turned back to the visitors. "Are we almost finished here?"

"Nearly." Victorique said after watching the exchange between the two men. "What about you? Where were you doing all of this?" she asked. "And where had the car been parked? At your home, in the driveway, or somewhere else?" she continued. The location was quite important, correct? And the location of one of the people she suspected was important as well!

"We asked Jared to come here. We were actually pretty surprised when he came. We went outside and greeted him, apologized about his father, and invited him to dinner. Dinner wasn't much, but when it was over we went to see him off. We were standing in the driveway when we asked him if we could have enough to get us by. He freaked out on us and reached into the car and grabbed Kira's necklace! He was yelling at us, and I guess I just got frustrated and pushed him into the car. We locked him in there until the police came to take him away for trying to steal from us." Blythe explained.
Then suddenly footsteps were heard on the stairs. In rushed the little boy from earlier, and he was holding something shiny in his hands. "Mommy's necklace!" he screeched. He handed it out to his father, proud that he had found it.
"Uhm, thanks Jason?" Blythe said, taking the necklace from him even though he didn't need it.

Victorique noticed a whole lot of holes in this entire thing. And then the little boy ran in with the necklace and she had all of the proof she needed! First of all, the claim was different from Jared's. And it didn't make any sense. But the necklace was the key here. She needed to make it clear on the audio recording that the necklace was here! "What is that? Is that the necklace that had been stolen?" she asked, nonchalantly as if the answer really didn't affect the case at all.

"Yes, it is." Blythe answered carefully, "But that's only normal, right? I trapped him in the car. He stayed there until the police came. He couldn't have gotten away with it." That made perfect sense to Blythe, but then again, he had no idea that Jared had already testified to his side of the story.
Jason stood next to his father, holding on to his leg as he stared at the people in front of them. He didn;t understand what was going on whatsoever.

"Well... I find that hard to believe, Mr. Masako." Victorique said, doing another MilesEdgeworth head shake. "I don't believe that necklace was in the car. First of all, why would it be? If it's the most valuable thing you have, why would you have it in the car? And besides. The necklace was not found with Mr. Hall." she said. "That necklace," she pointed at it, "was safely hidden in the house. You were surprised he had shown up, yes? I have all I need now. Thank you for your time." Not willing to wait for Blythe's objection, she looked over at Thorn and said, "Come along, Thorn. We're done here." she walked herself over to the door and with a polite nod, thanked Blythe again.

"Wait, what?" Blythe stammered. He wasn't sure what had just happened, but he knew he had fucked himself as well as his whole family into a box that they couldn't escape from.
Thorn waltzed out of the room and went to the car. When he got in, he asked, "So? Did we get him good?"

"We got him very good." Victorique said with a smirk as she got into her car. She hit the stop button on the audio recorder and sped off towards the hospital. "Let's see if we're allowed to see your brother. You said he's always working even when he's not, right? Maybe he'll like to hear all this." she said, hoping that this hard evidence would help them win the case easy.

"Yeah, I bet he would." Thorn answered. He was extremely excited, but this was only because he had helped. Normally he would have been upset to disturb his brother while he wasn't working.
When they got to the hospital, Thorn rushed into his brother's hospital room screaming "JAAAAAAG!"
This woke Jagger up, of course. "What?" he replied slowly, then gave a little yawn.
"Woah, what happened to you?" Thorn asked when he stopped at his brother's bedside. There was a cloth wrapped around his eyes, so even if he opened them he couldn't see anything.
"Doctor...told me it should fix my eyes. Light'll hurt 'em." he answered groggily.
"Oh." Thorn responded. He forgot what he had been excited about only moments before.

Victorique followed Thorn into Jagger's hospital room. "Well, luckily you won't need your eyes for this. Listen." she said and took the audio recorder out of her pocket. She rewound the entire thing and hit the play button. At the end of the recording she said, "I think we've got exactly what we need. This will clear up the case pretty easily, don't you think, Mr. Pontmercy?" Victorique was feeling very excited for the trial tomorrow. She just wished that Jagger wasn't broken so that he could be there too.
