Victorique was waiting in the courtroom for the judge to start the trial. The prosecutor over there looked pretty terrifying, but that was okay because Victorique had everything she needed to win this trial. She had the tape she had recorded and had it sped up to the part with the necklace. She was feeling pretty confident as she stood there with her beautiful evidence. She was thinking of all the arguments that the prosecutor might put up, and all of the arguments she could put up.

There was a loud rumbling outside the courtroom. That announced the arrival of one T.B.Pontmercy, younger brother to the great J.M.Pontmercy. He had spent his whole night last night fixing up his motorcycle that Victorique had brought over for him.
But the boy had brought a surprise with him to the court house. As he walked in and headed toward the defense, his older brother tagged along with him. Thorn had to help support him, and the man still had his eye wrap and a few casts, but he went through all of the pain just so he could be at this trial. It was his interns first trial, after all.
"Hey, look who's here!" Thorn called to Vitorique. He kicked up a chair next to the defense intern and put his brother into it.

Victorique had been so lost in her own mind that she hadn't realized who had just entered the courtroom. "Mr. Pontmercy!" she gasped, putting her hand over her mouth. "Mr. Pontmercy, why are you here? You should be resting! You look like you're in so much pain!" she said. She had to keep cool though. She didn't want to have a nervous breakdown right before her very first trial.

"Ah, I'm fine enough. I needed to be here with you for your first trial, though I'm not sure you need my help..." Jagger answered.
"That was probably one helluvah motorcycle ride though!" Thorn laughed from his spot behind his brother.
A call from across the courtroom rang out, "Don't think a broken pro can help you out of this mess, Rookie!"
"Who the hell does he think he is?" Thorn growled.
"That voice. It's Elyon Daley, a prosecuting attorney. He must be the one on this case. You'd better be careful, Ms. Valjean."

Victorique looked at the man who had spoken to them, then back at Thorn and Jagger. "Why? What makes him different than any other prosecuting attorney?" she asked, feeling her confidence crumble slightly. She told herself NO then rebuilt it. What her client told her was the truth and she had to believe that! And she had hard evidence to prove it as well, so she had no reason to fear this man!

"He's been accused of making things up and creating false witnesses just to win." Jagger answered, "But don't worry too much. You can still beat him. Just pick out the contradictions, and there wont be any problems."
Thorn tilted his head to the side and crossed his arms over his chest. "Alright then. Well, i guess I'd better go sit down. Good luck and stuff." The brown haired boy disappeared into the crowd of people gathered to watch the case.

The judge smashed his bitchstick on the stand and announced that COURT WAS NOW IN SESSION. "Ms. Valjean, is the defense ready?" the judge asked, and he got a swift nod in reply. He turned to the prosecution's side, "Mr. Daley, is the prosecution ready?"

"Of course. We're always ready." Ellie answered, "And I would like to call my first witness: Kira Masako to the stand."
"He'll probably have both Mr. and Ms. Masako's testimonies. They probably planned it out and there won't be much contradiction. You may have to use the tape against both of them, but try to keep it as a last resort." Jagger advised.

"That was my plan, Mr. Pontmercy." Victorique said with a brisk nod of her head, even though he couldn't see her. Kira took the stand, looking calm and cool. She kept giving Mr. Daley some kind of look before starting up on her testimony:
"Me and my husband, Blythe-Lee, invited our dear, sweet nephew over to the house for dinner. We ate and spoke a bit... then we got into somewhat of a disagreement, and Jared just went ballistic! He tried to take my diamond necklace out of the car. Then he fell in (clumsy boy!) and hit his head on the dashboard and was knocked out. That's when me and Blythe called the police."
Victorique listened to the entire testimony, highly disappointed. Had Blythe hidden the fact that he'd given away precious information yesterday? Kira's testimony was different from the other two. What was going on here? "Mrs. Masako..." she started, "you know, your testimony pretty much entirely goes against Jared Hall's." she said.

"Shut up! It's obviously going to be different from the criminals!" Ellie Daley screamed, "If you're going to find a problem with this, let's make it a reasonable one."
"Try not to be so...vague..." Jagger urged his apprentice, "It could wind up pretty badly."

Victorique shook her head, "It's also different from your own husband's, Mrs. Masako." she said, shaking her head. "Yesterday, I had a chat with your husband, Blythe-Lee. He gave me his own testimony, and it differs from yours. I also got another valuable clue... thanks to your son, Jason." she explained.
"Wh-what!" Kira exclaimed, furiously. Was her family trying to get them to suffer on the streets?

Blythe wriggled in his chair uncomfortably. He regretted everything that happened yesterday, but there wasn't much he could do about it now.
"Objection! You haven't heard Mr. Masako's testimony yet. I don't care what you heard the other day, all that matters is here and now! And you can't bring in the child! How cruel a person are you, bringing little kids into a place like this? We would kindly appreciate it if you left young family members out of this." Daley ranted.
"Wait! The Defense has all right to use testimonies from other times, especially when he hasn't testified himself yet!" Jagger shouted from where he sat, trying to help his apprentice out.
The Judge thought for a moment, then announced, "The earlier testimony can be used, but try to keep the children out of this, Ms. Valjean. We don't want them to be scarred for life."

"Don't worry, I wasn't planning on bringing the child into this. I don't need to." Victorique said. She'd show the tape eventually. When she was backed into a corner or when the time was right. Then she decided to tell the court about Blythe's testimony. "Judge, may I enlighten the courtroom with what Mr. Masako had told me yesterday?" she asked. The judge nodded yes, but let's see what the PROSECUTION has to say.

Ellie had a wide smirk on his face as he nodded his affirmation.
Jagger couldn't see the mans smirk, but he could feel the trap the prosecution was setting up. "Be careful..." he warned.

Victorique nodded at Jagger, and then breathed, "Understood." before starting up on what Blythe had told her just the day before. "Well, Mrs. Masako, your husband told me that you had invited Jared over but it was a surprise when he actually showed up..." she started, "When you were going to see him off, you asked for money to get you by, seeming as you have two children and are expecting another... and your husband has been laid off... you needed it." she continued, looking as confident as she could. "Mr. Masako said that he blew up at you guys, and started yelling. Mr. Masako got frustrated and said that he pushed Jared into the car." she finished.
Kira was taken aback. What was Blythe? Retarded? How were they supposed to win this case with him messing everything up? "W-well, maybe I'm a little off.." she said, trying to cover for her husbands mistake.
