Blythe squirmed in his seat once again. He didn't miss the glare the prosecutor sent his way, no matter how discreet it was. Both of the twins were sitting next to him in the bench, and Jason kept looking up and staring at his father. He didn't know what was going on, so he just sat back and watched his mother, eating his apple slices.
"I doubt you were off. You don't have to cover for your husband." Ellie said, the smirk still on his face, "I pulled up some records on Mr. Blythe-Lee Masako, and it seems that in his younger days he had a little...problem with certain...substances. He's been put in the hospital for it before, so needless to say, he has a bit of a problem with his memory. I have the medical records right here! If you try to press at him too much, his memory becomes more or less a blur. His testimony surely changed multiple times while you were visiting with him, until you heard what you wanted to hear."
"Do you hear that, Ms. Valjean? He's trying to discredit our whole plan. But he's also screwed himself up. He'll have a hard time with Mr. Masako's testimony now, if you give him one. Plus, we have his whole testimony recorded. Maybe we should save that for a better time, though?" Jagger commented.

Victorique wasn't sure when the better time would be. "How will I know when to present it?" she asked, getting a little worried. This should have been incredibly easy! She had all the evidence that was necessary, so why wasn't it going as great as she thought it would? "What if I miss my chance?" she said, a bit of panic in her voice.

Jagger laughed a little at his apprentice's worries. He remembered when he was that nervous too. "Don't worry, you'll know exactly when to use it." he said, "For now, you're going to need to throw a few things out from information you know. Notice, she said 'Dear, sweet nephew.' Feel free to point out that she, in fact, was extremely jealous of the boy. You may also want to question their disagreement and ask for it in more details."

Victorique nodded and said "Alright," she tried her hardest to sound confident, but there was still a bit of edge to her voice. "Mr. Masako had only told me what happened once. He did not revise it at all. But I have another thing to point out. First of all, your argument with Jared, Mrs. Masako..." she said, "It was over money. This isn't the first time you've asked money of the Hall's, correct?"
Kira looked down at her hands. "Correct..." what was this lawyer getting at?
"And I do believe your husband told me that you and your brother had gotten into a fight over money... In which resulted in you two not talking, right up until the death of your brother." Victorique said.

"What are you trying to get at?" the prosecutor growled. He was ready to destroy the defense at any cost.
Jagger nodded his head as he listened. He was feeling very proud of his intern at the moment.

"And you were terribly jealous of the boy, Jared Hall, for getting every ounce of your brothers money." Victorique pointed out, crossing her arms over her chest. "The boy... isn't the brightest. And I'm sure if you needed the money badly enough, which you do, you'd do anything you could to try and get it out of him..." she said and paused for a moment to add dramatic affect, "Say... frame him for a crime he didn't do, and sue him for all he had?"

"Shut up! You're accusing my witness of injuring and framing her own nephew? She knows what it's like to have children, she wouldn't do that to her brother!" Ellie screeched. It was the first thing that came to his mind.

"Objection! Mrs. Masako and her family are currently struggling, financially. My guess, is that they had two options here. Either get Jared to give them some money, or set something up so they could have it all." Victorique said, then decided to share her valuable piece of evidence right here. She just wanted this case to be over. "Mr. Masako claimed that you two were surprised Mr. Hall showed up at all," she said, turning her attention to Kira again. "You weren't actually expecting him to come, and didn't have time to perfectly set up your little plan to get it to work just right." then she turned up to the judge, "Your Honor, the necklace was not found at the scene of the crime. Mr. Hall did not have it." she said. When the judge nodded and urged her to go on, she continued, "Apparently, it had been lost? Now, how can Mr. Hall steal a necklace that wasn't even there to begin with?"

'Objection!" Ellie shouted, "The necklace was lost in the struggle. The police soon found it laying in the yard and handed it over to he Masako family! Jared tried to steal the necklace because it had been his mothers! He was tired of the Masako's constantly complaining about their financial estate, so he blew up at them and tried to take his mother's necklace back."

"Objection!" Victorique screamed like Mr. Payne. "You know as well as I do, Mr. Daley, that is a lie! The police did not find the necklace at all! Why would you ever even think that was an okay thing to say in the courtroom?" she said, feeling more confident now that Mr. Daley was forced to lie. "And even if the necklace had been found outside, or even if the plan had gone accordingly and Jared Hall was found with it, what was it doing in the car in the first place? Mr. Masako told me that it was the most valuable and expensive thing they had. Surely it'd be in a jewelry box, safely hidden inside, not in a car where anybody could just see it and decide to steal it!"

Ellie started to bite his lip, not sure what to do now. He was busy thinking of a lie to counter it when his other witness, Blythe-Lee Masako, stood up and exclaimed, "We had been in the car all day! Please, let me testify about it" Blythe wanted to make everything up to Kira. He felt terrible that he had already slipped up so badly. Ellie looked up at the judge, who nodded his head. Blythe took Kira's place at the stand.
"We recently found out that we were having a baby girl, so we went uptown to trade in some of Jason and Atticus' old toys for some girl toys for the baby. Kira always wears that necklace, it means so much to her! It was pretty hot out, so she took it off and set it on the dashboard so it wouldn't bother her in the heat. By the time we got home, we had so much stuff to carry in and the twins to take care of that we just forgot about the necklace until Jared tried to take it."

Victorique let out a relieved sigh. "Mr. Masako... that entire testimony is completely bogus." she breathed. "The necklace wasn't found. It wasn't found because it had been in the house all day. You may very well have gone to exchange some of the toys, but the entire part about the necklace is a lie." she explained. "Mr. Hall did not have it and it was not found anywhere around the scene. It was pronounced lost."

"Shut up! You can't prove that! Like I stated earlier, the detectives found it on the scene! I was there when it was found!" Ellie shouted at the defense attorney.
Jagger was silent and thinking at first, but under his breath he muttered the word 'Fingerprints?'

"Ob.ject.ion!" Victorique shouted, getting annoyed with Mr. Daley's persistent lie. "Mr. Daley, you're lying to the entire court! The necklace was not found because it was not there. It was in the house!" she said, and after hearing Jagger, she added, "Your Honor! Have the necklace checked for finger prints. If what Mr. Daley here claims is true, then Mr. Hall's prints should be on the necklace."

The courtroom was silent until the judge commanded, "Mr. Daley. Get this necklace checked for fingerprints."
The court was silent once again until Ellie muttered, "We already have."
"And?"
"Jared Hall's prints...were not on it."
The juries gasps and gossip could be heard in the background. It was obvious where this case was going now. Blythe had tried his hardest to save it, but it just hadn't worked. This case was hopeless.
"Wait!" Blythe suddenly screamed, "Please! Please let me testify one last time!
The Judge questioned, "Does the Defense Object?"
