Dustcloud laid on her side, exhausted from the kitting. But at least now she could stay in the nursery for a good six moons and not show her Clan how much of a failure she was. She looked down at her kits and felt bad once more that she'd had another litter of kits with a rogue.

[amaterasu]

"Well, you have two healthy kits. A tom and a she-kit." Rowanblaze announced. Then he got over himself and exited the den. He has been in WAY too many posts lately.

Lightbreeze, who has also had a random surge of post appearences, exploded herself over to examine Dustcloud's new kits. "They're wonderful!" she purred.

A ginger and white shecat entered the nursery. She stepped over hordes of kits to get to Dustcloud. "They're sweet," Gingerclaw purred, "But there's not much room in the nursery! I hope Foxstar makes some kits into apprentices soon!"

As if Gingerclaw's words were the cue, the all important ThunderClan leader, Foxstar, called a Clan meeting. She was quite chubby from the kits that were in her belly, so she didn't look as important as usual. But she had that important feel.

Willow's cats gathered.

Gingerclaw and Lightbreeze both exited the nursery. They could feel the important rolling off of their leader. A horde of other cats gathered as well. Smokesong was proudly standing near the high ledge. Occasionally reaching down to groom a kit or two.

"Today, Fawnstep's kits have reached their sixth moon." Foxstar began, raising her all important voice so that all of her Clan could hear. She waited for the noise to die down before continuing. "By naming apprentices, we show that ThunderClan will remain strong. We have many kits still in the nursery and even some on the way. ThunderClan will be strong and brave this leafbare, despite the many mouths we have to feed." she ranted, before beginning, "Tigerkit," she mewed, "you have reached your sixth moon and are ready to become an apprentice. From this moment on, you will be known as Tigerpaw until you receive your warrior name." Foxstar braced her for this next part, "Axel. You are not terribly familiar of the ways of a Clan, but I feel you understand enough to mentor this kit. You have every right to object, but we need every cat we have to mentor all of the kits. Will you take on Tigerpaw as your apprentice?" she asked the cat the question instead of importantly stating it.

Axel had been sitting near the highledge, watching what was going on. He wasn't expecting to be chosen as a mentor!
He realized that this would bind him to the Clan for good. If mating with the leader and fathering her kits didn't keep him here, being a mentor sure would. He wasn't sure what to say, but he didn't get the chance to say anything.

Smokesong's pelt was bristling and he hissed, "Foxstar, do you really think it's a good idea to let a rogue mentor my kit?"

Foxstar let her gaze rest on Smokesong. "We need mentors, Smokesong. There are too many kits. I even plan on leaving the nursery sooner than I should so that I can mentor my own apprentice." she explained to the tom, keeping herself calm. "Besides, what better way to test his loyalty?"

Tigerpaw just sort of sat there. She was excited to get a mentor and didn't really care who it was. She just wanted to be a warrior! Tigerpaw looked up at her father, her eyes pleading. She just wanted this to happpppen!

[amaterasu]

Smokesong gave Foxstar a long look, then finally sighed, "Fine."

"Then I accept, Foxstar, if there are no other objections." Axel mewed. The Clan was silent. He could tell some of the cats still didn't appreciate him, but they all knew that the Clan needed more warriors to mentor.

"Foxstar," Lightbreeze mewed from were she sat by Gingerclaw, "I don't mean to interrupt the meeting, but I am willing to leave the nursery early as well if I am ever needed to mentor. If you are willing to do it, so am I."

Foxstar nodded her head. "Thank you, Lightbreeze." she mewed as she watched Tigerpaw MEANDER (band student!) up to Axel to touch noses with him.

"Owlkit, you've reached your sixth moon and are ready to train to become a warrior. From this day onward until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Owlpaw. Gingerclaw will be your mentor."

[amaterasu]

Gingerclaw meandered (HA MINE TOO) over to Owlpaw to touch noses with the young apprentice. She was excited to be a mentor once again. She loved mentoring! and Ivorylight seemed to be doing good, so she considered herself a good mentor.

After Gingerclaw and Owlpaw touched noses, Foxstar moved on. "Grasskit. You have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become an apprentice. You will be known as Grasspaw until you receive your warrior name. Cloudpool will be your mentor."

[amaterasu]

Grasspaw blundered over to Cloudpool. He was excited to finally be an apprentice! He got to be an apprentice before all of the other kits in the nursery too! He was so cool.

Foxstar nodded as the cats touched noses and then meowed, "And finally, Thicketkit. You're also six moons old and are ready to be trained as a warrior. You will be known as ThicketPAW until you receive your warrior name." she mewed, "I was planning on having a mentor double up on mentoring duties until I had my kits, but it seems Lightbreeze is willing to take on an apprentice. Lightbreeze, would you like to leave your spot at the nursery to mentor Thicketkit?"

[amaterasu]

Lightbreeze nodded her head and purred, "Yes, Foxstar. I will do it for the Clan. I'm sure the other nursery queens can look after my kits for me."

ThicketPAW exploded over to Lightbreeze to touch noses with her. He was just so excited!
