Jingo was wandering around twolegplace, wondering what she could do with life. She leaped up onto one of the posts that the twoleg's had protecting their gardens, before leaping up to a rooftop. She looked around, trying to think of something she could do to make life interesting.

"Ah!" came a high pitched shriek, and a small tan and white kittypet went running underneath a bush. He had become startled when an unfamiliar cat jumped up onto his Garden Fence. He had always been scared easily, but he hid because he had never seen this she-cat around before. He turned in the bush so he could peek behind two of the branches.

Movement caught her eye, and Jingo leaped from her place on the low rooftop. She landed on the ground in one of the gardens. She looked in the direction of where she saw movement and the branches rustle. "Hello?" she mewed, her voice friendly.

Suddenly a black tom with a white chest exploded over teh fence. The tom hissed and smacked at Jingo, pushing her away from the kittypet underneath the bush.
He was followed by three more toms. A gold tom moved to stand next to the black one, both ready to attack. The other two, a brown and white and a tabby, were more relaxed.
"What are you doing here?" the black one, obviously the leader, hissed.

Jingo recoiled back from the sudden attackers, but remained calm and cool. She sat back and licked her paw before running it over her face. "I'm just wandering around. I saw some cat and thought I'd just say hello. I'm new here."

"This is our turf." the black cat hissed.
"Yeah," added the gold one, "Leave!"
The tabby cat moved so that he was standing between his hostile friends and Jingo. "Fang, Godric, relax." he purred, "She doesn't look like she's going to hurt anyone." He turned to the new cat and asked, "What's your name? I'm Salazar. You've met Fangboner and Godric. That's Godfrey over there, and under the bush is Lafayette."
Hearing his name caused the little tan and white cat to poke his head out of the bush.

Jingo didn't let herself flinch or react in a hostile manor to the other cats explosion at her. "Jingo." she mewed when she was asked for her name. She was glad that at least one of the cats was thinking with his head and not his claws.

"Have you come from far? What are you doing here?" Salazar asked with his head slightly tilted to show curiousity. He hoped he wasn't being intruding.
Godfrey had moved to sit beside Salazar, interested in this new cat as well. Fang and Godric had moved to another side of the garden, mumbling about something or another to each other (ha). Lafayette was still hiding under the bush.

"I came from a twolegplace far, far away." Jingo mewed, her eyes lighting up just thinking about the place she had come from and what she had seen on her way to this place. "A huge twolegplace over past those mountains and many, many sunrises away." she explained, then gave a shrug of her shoulders. "I came for the sake of meeting new cats and experiencing new things."

"That sounds like fun," Salazar said, "We were planning on moving ourselves. Too many cats here, not enough food. I don't like eating the food the housefolk give out. We need a nice place to hunt."
Realizing he was rambling, Salazar shook his head and purred, "Well, you're welcome to stay with us as long as you'd like. Sometimes we stay here in Lafayette's garden. Sometimes we go elsewhere. But for now, we're here."
Godfrey nodded his head eagerly, happy to have more friends joining. Lafayette just hid himself in the bushes again.

"Not enough food?" Jingo mewed, questioningly. She wasn't sure if these cats hunted for themselves at all or solely relied on the revolting pellets or piles of mush that twolegs fed their kittypet friends.

"Yeah, the housefolk have a group of monsters that moved in. They're so noisy that they're scarying away all of the prey. We can't live on the stuff housefolk give out forever." Salazar explained.
"Yeah," Godfrey added, his voice small, "I think they're making new nests. A lot of other cats have left here too!"
"I could live off of my housefolk." came a mumbled response from the bush, but the other two toms didn't seem to notice.

Jingo wrinkled her nose a bit as if the foul tasting pellets were in front of her right now. She remembered them from when she was a small kit, and preferred the taste of mouse much more. "I wouldn't want to live off that twoleg food." she mewed, emp?sympathetically.

"Fang!" came a voice from outside of the fence, and that caused Fangboner to jump up and scent the air. The next second a gray shecat squeezed through a hole in the fence with a mouthfull of small prey. She dropped them onto the ground in front of Fang, who nodded approvingly. Two young cats followed after the gray shecat, one a calico and the other brown. They both had one piece of prey each and immidiately sat down to eat it. Their mother had obviously promised them they could eat what they caught.
"Who is this? Will she be eating with us?" asked the only she-cat, and Salazar nodded his head and mewed, "This is Jingo. Jingo, this is Luna, and her kits, Hoyt and Cullen."
Luna nodded her head to Jingo. "It's not much," she mewed, "But it's all we have. There's enough if we all share."
Luna picked up a mouse and walked over to Godfrey. They talked about current news as they ate.
Godric and Fangboner shared a finch and settled down by Hoyt and Cullen, listening to their stories of the day.
Lafayette snuck out of the bush and into his nest, obviously off to get some pellets.
Salazar picked up the last mouse and set it down in front of Jingo. "Would you like to share it with me?" he asked.
