"I'll be lonely again." Sparrowsong mewed, her voice giving away a bit of sadness. She kind of liked the late night talks with the ShadowClan warrior, though they hadn't lasted for very long. She talked to him more than she talked to most cats in her Clan. She'd be stuck wandering the forest all alone again once Brokensoul stopped patrolling the borders at night...

[amaterasu]

"Hmm...well I can't control when I have night patrols." he mewed, "So I guess you'll just have to be lonely!"
Then he felt kind of bad. He knew he would be lonely too, h was rather enjoying these short talks. So he decided he would do what he could to night patrol again.
"I need time to sleep too! When do you sleep?" he asked, changing the subject once again so he didn't offend her.

Sparrowsong felt the familiar pang of loneliness stab at her heart at the thought of wandering the forest alone again. She was glad when Brokensoul changed the subject. "I sleep whenever I'm not doing patrols. And I don't stay out the entire night. Just a couple of hours." she explained. She would sleep a little bit before her walks, and she'd sleep right after them too. Generally, she made sure to get back to camp before the sun rose in the morning.

[amaterasu]

Brokensoul nodded his head, showing he was listening. "I sleep before and after my patrol. Speaking of which, I should probably be getting back."
H didn't want t willingly leave, but he knew he had to. His clanmates would worry. He stood up and inclined his head toward Sparrowsong and mewed, "See you some other time."

Sparrowsong nodded at the tom. "Alright. Bye." she mewed, and looked up at the sky. The moon was still hanging in the middle of the night sky, so it must not have been terribly late. She'd still have quite a while to get on with her walk. So she decided that she'd probably linger at the border for a little bit after Brokensoul leaves.

The next day, Brokensoul saw Addertail leaving for the late night patrol. He stooped out of the warriors den and mewed, "Hey, Addertail, I'll take this patrol if you want. You've been working ll day."
Addertail nodded his head and went back into the warriors den. Addertail was a good warrior, but he'd do almost anything for a good nights sleep.
Brokensoul went through the RiverClan patrol at a reasonable pace, but took his time when he was at the ThunderClan border. He was much too excited to see Sparrowsong again today.
He sat at the border and opened his mouth, scenting for the shecat.

Sparrowsong was padding along towards the border, hoping to see Brokensoul again tonight. She figured she might as well not get her hopes very high up. He's gone on two patrols in a row already, so why would he want to go out on a third? He'd probably convince someone else to take his patrol, and give him a break. She was more than a little surprised when she saw the tom sitting on the edge of the border, with his mouth open, scenting for something. "Brokensoul? What are you doing?"

Brokensoul had smelled the shecat coming. Her ThunderClan stentch was very obvious. When he heard her, he looked over at her, then quickly turned his head away. He muttered, "Patrol. Again. Out on another walk?"
He didn't want to tell the shecat that he had traded duties once again. He had no idea why, but he liked these little talks. No matter how brief or boring they were.

"Oh. Again? That's a little odd." Sparrowsong mewed. Maybe there was something wrong with the other warriors in camp? Maybe a whole bunch were sick! So they had to use the same cats over and over again for patrols! Sparrowsong would just figure that was it. "Yeah, I'm walking again. I do it every night, like I said." but she wouldn't tell Brokensoul that she had rarely gone to the border between ThunderClan and ShadowClan before meeting him.

[amaterasu]

"Hm, well they like to throw night duties on to me." he purred, "So that's normally what I do."
His ears perked up when he heard a noise somewhere behind him. He didn't hear it again, so he let it go. He probably would have recognized it if he wasn't so focused on the ThunderClan shecat.

Sparrowsong nodded her head in an UNDERSTANDING FASHION. "I see." she mewed. Well, she was glad that they always threw the night duties on him. She enjoyed talking to Brokensoul at night. She wondered how much longer he'd be going out on these night patrols. What if he stopped when things between RiverClan and ShadowClan got settled? That would be sad!

[amaterasu]

Suddenly a gray tabby cat and a brown tabby cat exploded out of the bramblepile behind them. "Brokensoul, what are you doing?" the gray one hissed, whereas the brown cat raced up to the border. "Get away from here, ThunderClan Cat!" he hissed.

Brokensoul leaped up and yowled, "Tigerfire? Addertail? What are you two doing here?"

"What are you doing letting this ThunderClan cat just sit here?" was Tigerfire's response.

Brokensoul hissed back quickly, "I was making sure she didn't cross the border."

Sparrowsong backed away from the border, and started to panic. She started digging at the dirt in front of her, shuffling her paws. Her tail was lashing back and forth. She couldn't quite decide whether to act hostile or scared. She figured being either one of those wouldn't really help her get very far, so instead I guess she just figured to act crazy and scare them away or something.

[amaterasu]

"Good job! Luckily we came to help!" Addertail meowed.
Tigerfire didn't look as convinced. He said, "Cross our border, ThunderClan, and you'll die where you stand. You've been warned. Let's go report this back to Stormshadow."
Tigerfire turned and walked toward the Camp. Addertail gave a small hiss before turning and following his brother. Brokensoul followed the two older warriors, looking back once to give Sparrowsong an apologetic look.

Sparrowsong looked at Brokensoul, but wasn't sure how to feel. Would she get in trouble now? Would she not be able to walk along the border anymore? Did Brokensoul tell on her? She bolted back to camp as quick as possible, a rush of feelings surging through her body. She had no idea what was going to happen, and that terrified her.
