The next night, Brokensoul was on patrol once again. But today he wasn't alone. He patroled with Addertail, the brown tabby tom from the day before. After patroling the RiverClan border, they moved on to ThunderClan. Brokensoul wanted to see Sparrowsong, but he didn't want Addertail to cla the fur off of her. Surely she was wise enough to stay away?

Sparrowsong waited in the bushes near the ShadowClan/ThunderClan border, to see if Brokensoul would appear. She was a little warier now that she had been caught once, and she realized she should've been more cautious from the beginning! The two cats were from different Clans! They shouldn't be secretly meeting each other... but for some reason, that didn't stop Sparrowsong from coming to the border tonight.
When she saw Brokensoul, she noticed that he wasn't alone tonight. She sat in the bushes and planned on waiting there until the cats disappeared.

[amaterasu]

"Hey, I think I smell a ThunderClan cat!" Addertail exclaimed, "I can't tell if its stale or fresh!"

"Well of course you're going to smell ThunderClan!" Brokensoul hissed, "It's ThunderClan territory over there! What were you expecting? WindClan?"

Addertail narrowed his eyes at him, but said nothing as he continued on.

Brokensoul was glad when Addertail dropped the subject, because he recognized Sparrowsong's scent. He looked directly at the bushes she was hiding in, gave a small smile, then followed after Addertail.

Relief surged through Sparrowsong as the two cats padded away. She caught the smile that Brokensoul had given her before leaving. She backed away slowly through the bushes until she was a safe distance into her own territory. Would there be two cats on the border every night now? Maybe she should hide her scent for a while. She decided that each night she'd continue coming to the border, but she'd roll around in some herbs before doing so.

The next night, the patrol consisted of only Tigerfire. The gray tabby had spent most of his time patrolling the RiverClan border, but he also decided to check the ThunderClan border. He didn't smell the shecat from a few days ago.
He sat down and waited to see if anyone would show up, hiding in the bramblepiles.

Sparrowsong saw one of the cats from the other night, but didn't see Brokensoul anywhere. She was hiding neatly in the bushes, completely hidden. Her scent was masked by the smell of herbs and such. She stood absolutely still and kept her eyes closed so that the tom wouldn't feel like he's being stared at, and he also wouldn't be able to see the gleam of her eyes.

After a while, Tigerfire got up and walked away. He hadn't scented a ThunderClan cat anywhere near there.

The next night, Brokensoul was out on night patrol once again. He took his time at RiverClsn border, sure that Sparrowsong wouldn't come. He did end up going to patrol the ThunderClan border anyway, though.
He stood at the spot at the border where he had always met the shecat and stared across wistfully. He didn't know why, but he would miss their midnight talks.No matter how breif they were, they meant something to him.

Sparrowsong was hiding in the bushes again, thoroughly covered in herb-scent, waiting to see what cats would come tonight. Her heart raced in her chest when she saw Brokensoul. She crept a little closer to him, but was still under cover, and called out"Brokensoul? Is anyone else with you?" she made sure to keep her tone low enough that if there were any other cats, they wouldn't be able to hear her.

Brokensoul jumped back slightly when he heard his name "Sparrowsong?" he thought, recognizing the voice.
He looked around the clearing but didn't see her. He felt like he was imagining things.
"N-No" he responded, just in canse he wasn't. He felt a little silly though.

[J I N G O]

Sparrowsong stepped out of hiding and stood face to face with the tom. "Hiya." she purred. It'd been a while since they had gotten to talk, and that actually had affected her for some reason. She loved talking to the ShadowClan cat, and was getting a little depressed when she was unable to do so. She peered over his shoulder and glanced around ShadowClan territory, just to see if there were any eyes staring at them, before resting her gaze warmly back on Brokensoul.

"Hey." the tom mewed. He was so excited to see Sparrowsong, but he didn't want to show it. It made him feel like he was betraying his Clan and everything he knew.
"Sorry about my Clanmates, but they wouldn't..." he stopped before he finished the sentence. He wasn't sure what to finish it with. He had planned to say 'understand', but understand what exactly?

Sparrowsong shook her head. "It's fine. It's understandable." she mewed. She was pretty sure that both of them knew this wasn't really right, but what's so bad about having friends in other Clans? It's not like ThunderClan and ShadowClan were currently on bad terms. While she was pretty sure they both knew this was wrong, she was also quite positive that neither one of them really cared too much.

"So how have you been these past few days?" Brokensoul asked. He wanted to change the subject, but he also eally did care how she had been. That was odd. He normally didn't give a crap about what others did, especially cats in other Clans. What was wrong with him?

Sparrowsong shrugged her shoulders. "Fine, I guess." she mewed. Day time generally was just a blur to her, but lately it's been a blur that drags on for way longer than it should. Especially the past few nights where she wasn't able to meet with Brokensoul. But she wasn't about to tell him that! So she just made her answer plain and short! "What about you?" she asked him.

[amaterasu]

"Ah, alright. RiverClan hasn't attacked or made any signs of attacking, but we've been busy with preperations. It's all I do anymore! So I take the night patrol to change things up a bit." he explained. Look at him, telling a cat from another Clan what was going on inside his own! He couldn't help it, he wanted something to talk about.
