It was because she was black.
"I know. I feel terrible for her, but I've never heard her complain. I think she'll be a great medicine cat one day. If she was my kit, I would be so proud!" Lightbreeze purred, glad for the subject change.

[J I N G O]

"Yes, she seems very bright and knowledgeable for her age. I'm proud that she's a ThunderClan cat." Flameshadow said, noticing that Lightbreeze having kits came up again in the conversation. Was she trying to turn him on?

[amaterasu]

Seeing that her plan didn't work, Lightbreeze just agreed, "Yes. I am too. One day, I want to have kits that I can be proud of like her mother must be proud of her. Who knows, maybe one day I'll kit the next leader!"
She flicked Flameshadow with her tail, showing she was just making a joke.

[J I N G O]

"Yeah. I'd like to father my own litter of kits..." Flameshadow said LONGINGLY.

[amaterasu]

Lightbreeze smiled at him, then reached up and licked his muzzle. "I think you would make a great father," she purred lovingly.

[J I N G O]

"Really?" Flameshadow asked, not hiding the shock in his voice. He really liked this she-cat. That's why he was talking to her so much today. Usually he'd only speak when needed. And she was being very suggestive.

[amaterasu]

"Yeah! Any queen would be proud to be the mother of your kits, Flameshadow. Me included." Lightbreeze mewed. Heat rose to her ears as she realized what she had just admitted.
She didn't even notice her brother walk into the camp, over to the medicine cats den, then over to the fresh kill pile. She was too distracted by Flameshadow.

[J I N G O]

"You know, I actually kind of like you, Lightbreeze..." Flameshadow mewed quietly, shuffling his paws on the ground. He usually wasn't that straightforward. But he wanted to let the she-cat know that he had FEELINGS for her.

[amaterasu]

"I like you too, Flameshadow." Lightbreeze responded. Her whiskers twitch in amusement as she watched the tom struggle to get the words out. He was so funny.

[J I N G O]

"Would you... really want ME TO FATHER YOUR KITS?" Flameshadow asked, feeling ridiculous at the question. That was such a weird thing to ask. (But you know. It speeds up the kitmaking process. Did you know that I have a book and it explains how kitties have sex?)

[amaterasu]

"Yes, Flameshadow. I would love to be the mother of your kits. I want to stand by your side as your mate for as long as I live, and even longer than that!" Lightbreeze mewed happily.

Flameshadow pressed his nose against Lightbreeze's cheek, affectionately. He was so glad that she wouldn't father his kits, but he could father HER kits!
