Grasswhistle woke up from his sleep and stretched out his legs. He didn't sleep very well last night, it seemed, and he was kind of sore. Maybe Oceanmask could send him out on the dawn patrol to get his legs running! He searched the camp with his EYES to try and find the she-cat...

[amaterasu]

Oceanmask was already sorting out the dawn patrol in the middle of camp. There was a large group of cats gathered around her.

"Morningcloud and Leafstorm, you two can go on a hunting patrol. We're going to need some more food before leafbare. Go pick a few more warriors to go with you."

She looked around at the cats gathered around her.

"Now what about Dawn patrol?"

[J I N G O]

Grasswhistle suddenly heard cats being sent out on patrols and located the group of cats. "Oceanmask! Can I go out on dawn patrol?" he asked, eager to be out running and stretching his legs rather than sitting around instead inside camp.

[amaterasu]

"Hm, yes. That works perfectly. If I send you and Kestrelpaw out on Dawn patrol, I have enough cats here for another hunting patrol!"

Oceanmask sorted the other cats into a hunting patrol as Kestrelpaw walked over to his mentor.
Oceanmask walked over to Grasswhistle and Kestrelpaw and mewed, "Maybe I'll join you. Two cats may not be enough."

Grasswhistle nodded, happy to have the she-cat join him on the patrol. "Alright then!" he mewed, eager to get out of the camp. "Whenever you give the word then." he said, waiting for her to lead the way.

[amaterasu]

Oceanmask nodded her head to Grasswhistle and then led the way out of the camp. Kestrelpaw followed after the deputy, excited to be going on a patrol with his deputy and super cool mentor!

Oceanmask paused along the border to mark it. She scented the air and announced, "No recent activity from RiverClan. That's good."

[J I N G O]

Grasswhistle nodded and was about to meow his reply when suddenly a fox leaped out of nowhere at Oceanmask. After recovering from the shock, he exploded on top of the fox and bit it's neck viciously. Finally, the stinking creature let go and ran away.
Well that was definitely random.

[amaterasu]

Oceanmask heard the fox as soon as it leapt at her. She jumped to the side, but Grasswhistle had already exploded at the fox. Within the next few seconds, the fox was sent running out of WindClan territory.

Oceanmask gaped at Grasswhistle.

Kestrelpaw, on the other hand, was bouncing up and down. "That was great, Grasswhistle! That fox came out of no where, and you were just like ZOOM BANG and took it down! Look at it running away with it's tail between its legs!"

Grasswhistle let out a small purr of amusement at his apprentices praise. "Instinct I guess." he said with a shrug of his shoulders which weren't as big as Flameshadow's. "Let's hope that RiverClan can deal with it." he meowed, watching it run off onto RiverClan territory.

[amaterasu]

"We should warn them," Oceanmask mewed, "RiverClan has done us no harm."

She was back to her normal, business like self, but inwardly she was still thinking about Grasswhistle fighting off that fox.

[J I N G O]

Grasswhistle nodded his head, "Yes, I suppose we should. Let's just hope they don't think we're some kind of attack party..." he meowed, letting his fears be known to the deputy and his apprentice.

[amaterasu]

"They'll think twice before attacking the deputy of another Clan. Especially when she only has one warrior and a new apprentice with her." Oceanmask responded. Of course, they didn't know that this warrior had fought off a Fox all by himself....which was now in RiverClan territory. They wouldn't be too pleased about that.

Kestrelpaw raced toward RiverClan border.

"Wait, stop on the border!" Oceanmask called, "Their dawn patrol should be by soon, we can inform them and never need leave our territory."

Grasswhistle's ears felt hot with embarrassment when Oceanmask slipped a praise into her rant. "Yes, Kestrelpaw. Don't make it seem like we're invading, running in there like you've got a dog pack on your tail!" he meowed with amusement.

[amaterasu]

Kestrelpaw turned and pouted at the two warriors, then walked toward the border at a slower pace.

When they got there, the cats sat down on the border and waited.


A light tom with dark stripes made his way toward the border with a group of cats behind him. They were on border patrol when he saw a group of WindClan warriors at the border.

"Oceanmask," he snarled, "What do you want?"

"Greetings, Ivystalker." Oceanmask purred carefully.

Noticing the harsh tone in the RiverClan deputy's voice, Grasswhistle decided to explode in since it was about the only thing that Willow could do. "No need to be hostile," he said with a respectful bow of his head, "we're only warning you of a potential danger..." he said, trying his best to seem friendly.
