Foxstar was good at understanding other cats and their points of view but she just knew that the four Clans wouldn't be able to all work together as one. It just can't be like that! "Well... I was wondering..." Foxstar started and paused for a few moments in hesitation before continuing, "If you would like to join ThunderClan."

This woke Axel up. He turned his head to give Foxstar a look. It was another one of the few things he wasn't expecting.
"Join ThunderClan?" he asked, "I don't think the warrior life is my style."
He sat his head back down on his paws, but kept his eyes open. After a little bit, he mewed, "But...I guess I'll have no choice but to stay. I have kits to take care of now, right?"

"I figured you were listening to that conversation." Axel sighed, "Demyx is different. I've known him for a long time. His family was killed, Foxstar, right in front of his eyes. He's always been a little...jumpy after that, I suppose. He would do anything to save himself, and that involved fathering kits to be trusted."
Silence, and then Axel said firmly, "I am not like that. I can think for myself, without another cat telling me what to do. I listen only out of respect and kindness, and not to some cat that threatens me or all-seeing cats from the sky. I will stay here, for you and the kits, but I will not give up my freedom or who I am. I will be a warrior, Foxstar, but I won't take up one of your names."

Axel gave his head a slight nod, then fell into sleep. Their conversation, as far as he was concerned, was over.
